Judge Bans Obstruction of Greyhound Operations
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Monday forbade striking Greyhound workers to interfere with the bus line’s operations or vandalize its property.
The preliminary order, agreed on by lawyers for Greyhound and the Amalgamated Transit Union AFL-CIO, Local 1222, affects strikers from Bakersfield to the Mexican border and the Pacific Ocean to Arizona. It comes almost a month after Greyhound employees across the country mounted a work stoppage March 2.
An attorney for Greyhound said the order was needed because Greyhound workers began trying to obstruct bus operations within days of the strike by deflating tires, pounding on buses, pelting buses with tomatoes and committing other acts of vandalism.
Attorneys for the labor unions could not be reached for comment Monday.
