SANTA ANA — The Orange County Board of Supervisors has appointed an advisory commission for the new arts program at the new John Wayne Airport terminal. The program was approved in January on a trial basis through June, 1991.
The commissioners are Harvey Stearn, an Irvine developer and member of the California Arts Council; Emily Sabin, cultural arts manager for the city of Brea; Richard Stein, executive director of the Laguna Playhouse; Vi Smith, a writer, aviation historian and former Los Angeles Times staff writer, and James Woodin, president of the Anaheim Plaza Resort and a fine-arts commissioner for the city of Buena Park.
The commission is expected to meet for the first time next week, said Courtney Wiercioch, an airport staff analyst. Among its initial tasks will be to plan an exhibit for the new terminal’s dedication ceremonies, scheduled for Sept. 7 and 8, and to draft a budget for the fiscal year 1990-91. County supervisors approved $40,000 to start the program.
All the new commissioners were members of a task force that helped shape the arts program.
