The Platt Art Gallery of the University of Judaism will display more than 40 courtroom sketches made during the trial of Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie.

David Rose, a courtroom artist and reporter, produced the sketches during the trial of the so-called “Butcher of Lyon” in France. A former Gestapo chief, Barbie was found guilty in 1987 of crimes against humanity, including the torture and murder of hundreds of Holocaust victims during World War II.

A native of Boston, Rose is known for his sketches of the Pentagon Papers trial; he is also a painter and printmaker.
