Antonio McKay, world indoor 400-meter champion last year and a gold medalist in the 1988 Olympic Games, and Jamaican long jumper Trevor Black have been suspended by The Athletics Congress for three months because they tested positive for substances commonly found in over-the-counter medications.
McKay tested positive at a meet in Johnson City., Tenn., on Jan. 26 for phenylpropanolamine, a stimulant that is banned under International Amateur Athletic Federation rules.
At the same meet, Black tested positive for pseudoephedrine. McKay’s request for an appeal will be heard at an unspecified date. If Black appeals, it would go through the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Assn.
