Can Prince actually write a song without the S word in the title? He’s given his latest tune, “The Sex of It,” to August Darnell for the upcoming Kid Creole & the Coconuts album, titled “Private Waters in the Great Divide.” . . . Guns N’ Roses mainstays Slash and Duff were in the studio with Iggy Pop recently, where the guys played on several tracks for Pop’s upcoming album. . . . Guitar wiz Jeff Healey has covered the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” with vocal help from none other than the song’s author himself, George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne. Other all-star guests on the album, which is due in June, include Mark Knopfler, Steve Cropper and “Late Night’s” Paul Shaffer. . . . Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo is producing a new album for Cajun rockers’ Buckwheat Zydeco. . . . The original members of Styx, minus Tommy Shaw, have reunited and are making a new album in Chicago, with Dennis DeYoung producing. . . . And our Band Name of the Week goes to Helen Keller Plaid, whose new album, “Din,” is distributed by Sacramento-based Mad Rover Records.
