Man Killed When Car Slams Into Tree
A motorist was killed early Saturday when his speeding car failed to negotiate a bend in Jesmond Dene Road north of Escondido and slammed broadside into an oak tree, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Dead at the scene of the accident was Terry L. Johnson, 38, of Escondido. Johnson was alone in his l983 Mercedes-Benz driving south on Jesmond Dene Road at a high speed when his car failed to ride out the turn, the spokeswoman said.
The car crossed the northbound lanes, struck the tree and overturned.
