Public Hearing Set on Via Valmonte Closing

A public hearing will be held Wednesday at Torrance City Hall to determine the environmental impacts of closing Via Valmonte in Torrance at the boundary of Palos Verdes Estates. The street on the city’s southern boundary is a major access road leading into and out of the peninsula city.
Torrance council members instructed city planners to do the environmental study following complaints by residents over growing congestion along the road. The council’s move has enraged many Palos Verdes Estates residents, who say they would face a major inconvenience if the street is closed.
