California IN BRIEF : SONORA : Man Gets 17 Years for Murder Attempt
- Share via
A man convicted of shooting a Sonora restaurant manager during a burglary and leaving her for dead in a walk-in freezer has been sentenced to 17 years in prison. Gary Edward White, 21, was sentenced Friday in Tuolumne County Superior Court on attempted murder and burglary convictions. He was charged with shooting Pamela Comer in the head, chest and arm during a $4,500 burglary of a Foster Farms restaurant on July 22. Comer was found in the restaurant’s freezer, which doctors said possibly saved her life because the low temperature slowed the loss of blood. Sentencing for co-defendant Chaylon Selvian was delayed until June 22. He had pleaded guilty to the charges and had agreed to testify for the prosecution.
