SHORT TAKES : Deejay, CBS Reporter Honored

CBS correspondent Charles Osgood and New York disc jockey Hal Jackson have been named to the National Assn. of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame.

Osgood is the writer and anchorman of four daily CBS News radio broadcasts. He is also a co-anchor on the “CBS Morning News” and contributes to “CBS This Morning,” on which a TV version of “The Osgood File” is featured each Monday.

He joined CBS News as a New York-based correspondent in 1971.

Jackson, 74, of New York’s WBLS, is vice chairman of Inner City Broadcasting, the largest black-owned communications company in the country.

He has been a broadcaster 51 years and is credited by many with creating opportunities for many black broadcasters and performers.

They received their awards during a luncheon Sunday at the association’s convention at Atlanta’s World Congress Center.
