Nation In Brief : TEXAS : Attacker Cited Rape Quip, Victim Says
Austin, Tex., police reported a woman said a man who sexually assaulted her at knifepoint quoted Republican gubernatorial nominee Clayton W. Williams, who last weekend compared foul weather to rape (“just relax and enjoy it”). Williams apologized for the remark, made to reporters and cowhands. Williams spokesman Bill Kenyon said: “This violent incident is so awful and appalling that out of respect for the victim we have no comment.” According to the police report, the attacker told the 30-year-old woman she should “relax and enjoy it . . . like Clayton Williams said, it’s inevitable.”
