Tokyo stocks bounced back to close broadly higher today in a partial rebound from Monday’s huge fall, but some brokers warned a further selloff is still possible.

After a daylong roller coaster ride that went up, then down and up again, the key 225-share Nikkei surged 757.65 points or 2.71% to 28,759.72 in its seventh-largest one-day point gain.

Volume picked up to about 650 million shares after Monday’s thin 450 million.

Trust funds and others searching for bargains picked through the remains of Monday’s debacle for something to salvage. The Nikkei plunged almost 2,000 points Monday in its second-biggest point drop ever.
