NATION IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : New Evidence in Jogger Rape Case

A prosecutor in the rape case of a Central Park jogger revealed surprising new evidence: a semen stain on the victim’s sock. Justice Thomas Galligan agreed to an indefinite delay in the trial in Manhattan. The sock, which has been in police custody since the April 19, 1989, attack, will be sent for DNA testing. Genetic matches are considered more conclusive than a fingerprint.
