Vons Fined for Checkout Errors: Vons Grocery Co. was fined $21,750 in connection with accusations of overcharge errors by equipment at checkout counters in San Diego, the city attorney’s office announced. Vons pleaded no contest to 22 misdemeanor and 80 infraction charges stemming from incorrect price scanning and labeling violations on goods packaged by individual stores, according to San Diego City Attorney John Witt. San Diego Municipal Court Judge John M. Thompson fined the firm and placed it on probation for three years.
