American Medical International Inc.: The hospital operator said second-quarter profit totaled $36 million, almost double the profit of the same period a year earlier. Revenue rose 9% to $738 million. The Beverly Hills company credited its restructuring program, a 24% reduction in overhead costs and an increase in admissions.
