NATION : Hubble Telescope Ready to Orbit
From Times wire services
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. —
Engineers belatedly completed critical testing of the $1.5-billion Hubble Space Telescope early today with forecasters predicting an 80% chance of good weather for the shuttle Discovery’s blastoff Tuesday.
“We’re go. We’re on schedule for April 10,” said NASA spokeswoman Lisa Malone. “It’s looking good.”
Discovery’s countdown to launch the year’s third shuttle mission is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, about an hour after the ship’s five-member crew arrives at Kennedy Space Center from Houston.
