WORLD : W. German Missile Removal Set
From Times wire services
WUESCHHEIM, West Germany —
The U.S. Air Force will remove its first nuclear Cruise missiles from West Germany next week, a spokesman said today.
All Cruise missiles in Western Europe are to be scrapped by May next year under a 1987 U.S.-Soviet treaty to cut intermediate-range nuclear forces.
The spokesman said the first 16 of 96 missiles in West Germany, all based at Wueschheim Air Station south of Coblenz, will be removed next Wednesday and shipped to a U.S. air base in Arizona where they will be destroyed.
