G-7 Ministers to Meet: Top economic policy-makers of the United States and its major economic allies meet today in Paris amid mounting pressures for some sort of new international action to calm the chaotic Japanese financial markets before their turmoil spreads around the globe. Japanese Finance Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto is expected to press finance ministers and central bankers of the other large industrialized countries--known informally as the Group of Seven--either to reduce their interest rates or to intervene heavily in the currency markets.
