Delta II Launch: McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Co. in Huntington Beach plans to launch a Delta II rocket for the government of Indonesia at 6:28 p.m. Thursday from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The rocket’s mission is to deliver a Palapa B-2R communications satellite to geostationary orbit 22,300 miles above the Equator.

The satellite will join two Palapa satellites already in orbit and electronically link the people of Indonesia with their island neighbors through high-speed data relays and telephone and television signals. Each Delta II rocket launch generates about $50 million in revenue for McDonnell Douglas, said Anne McCauley, a company spokeswoman. The company plans 12 launches in 1990.
