SEAL BEACH : Recount Doesn’t Change Vote Tally
A recount of the District 1 votes cast in the March 27 city election resulted in the same tally as originally reported on election night, City Clerk Joanne Yeo said this week.
A hand count of the ballots confirmed that City Council candidates Joe Rullo and Marilyn Hastings qualified for the May 8 runoff with 283 and 254 votes respectively. The recount was requested by candidate Charles Antos, who fell just 19 votes short of qualifying for the runoff with 235. None of the candidates received more than 50% of the vote, thus forcing the runoff.
Also running in the May 8 runoff are council candidates Galen Ambrose and Gwen Forsythe in District 3.
