World IN BRIEF : SURINAME : 3 Arrested in Killing of Soviet Diplomat

Three Surinamese men were arrested in connection with the slaying of a Soviet diplomat during an apparent robbery, police said. The three were captured in the western district of Nickerie, which borders the South American nation of Guyana, while trying to sell the diplomat’s car, police said. Stasis Obukauskas, 41, consul and second secretary in the Soviet Embassy, had left home in the car before being found shot to death in the capital, Paramaribo, police said.
