FREE CONCERT : Choir’s Tour Ends on a High Note

The 68-voice choir of California Lutheran University will perform a free concert Tuesday in the university’s Preus-Brandt Forum, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. with an organ recital by CLU professor Carl Swanson. The performance concludes the choir’s annual tour, a tradition that began in 1962. This year, the choir performed in nine cities throughout California and Nevada.

THE PROGRAM

Under the direction of James Fritschel, the choir will perform spirituals, motets, anthems and a variety of lighter music. The concert will feature Aaron Copland’s 1947 composition “In the Beginning,” with a solo by Lisa Wall. Also featured will be the choir performing two of Fritschel’s original compositions, “And the Trees Do Moan” and “The Last Word.”
