Beverly Hills : $40,000 to Education Fund
Mayor Max Salter said his appeal for supporters to contribute to the Beverly Hills Education Fund instead of his reelection campaign has raised more than $40,000.
“The amazing thing is that a lot of of them were people I don’t even know,” said Salter, who pledged to match the donations with at least $50,000 of his own money.
Although some of the contributors were unknown to him, most of the money came in after he made a series of telephone calls, Salter said.
Salter and fellow City Council incumbent Robert K. Tanenbaum were re-elected in the April 3 election.
