Everett S. Todd; Santa Monica Manufacturer

Everett S. Todd, co-founder of the Santa Monica-based American Appliance Manufacturing Corp. Inc. known as Mor-Flo American, has died of cancer. He was 82.

He died Wednesday in St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica.

With his partner, the late Bert Sutton, Todd started the water heater manufacturing concern in 1952. Dubbed the “dean of the water heater industry,” he remained active in the business until three weeks before his death.

Todd was a former president of the Pacific Coast Gas Assn. In 1988, he was named Man of the Year by the Pacific Southwest Distributors Assn.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and a daughter, Janet Bridegum of Reno, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Masonic services are planned for 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Grace Chapel of Inglewood Park Cemetery.

The family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to Masonic Homes, through Robert Klinger, Grand Lodge of California Masonic Memorial Temple, 1111 California St., San Francisco, CA 94108.
