8 Officers Wounded in Algerian Incident

ALGIERS — Eight police officers were wounded in nightlong clashes with youths outside a theater in the Algerian capital that resulted in 19 arrests, police said Thursday.
The Algerian news agency APS quoted a police statement saying the incident started when Muslim fundamentalists tried to stop a concert taking place across the street from a mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
