WORLD : 10 Killed, 27 Hurt When Bomb Explodes on Crowded India Bus
A bomb exploded in a crowded city bus in New Delhi today, killing at least 10 people and injuring 27, the United News of India news agency said.
No one claimed responsibility for the explosion, but Muslim separatists in Kashmir claimed responsibility for three similar attacks this week.
A senior police official said the bomb was so powerful that it ripped through the bus and badly damaged a jeep nearby. “It is the work of professionals,” said the official.
On Wednesday, a bomb exploded in a crowded train near Bombay, and 34 passengers were hurt. A Muslim militant group fighting for secession of the northern Kashmir valley claimed responsibility for that attack. The same group claimed responsibility for the bombings of two police stations in New Delhi on Tuesday. At least nine policemen were injured in Tuesday’s blasts.
