AREA, POPULATION MATCH-UPS

Four of the county’s landlocked cities have a smaller percentage of the county’s total population than of its land mass. Irvine, Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano and Yorba Linda all fit into this enviable position. Five beach communities--Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, San Clemente and Seal

Beach--fall into the same position. But, because they typically claim offshore area as being within city limits, do not have the actual living space their claimed square mileage would suggest. Here’s how city areas and populations match up with one another:
