With each passing day, I become more convinced that Joan Didion’s “Salvador” should be on one’s required-reading list. A second reading today is a revealing experience.
The cast of characters in El Salvador may have changed, but the identities and motives of the murky, intertwined groups can be seen not to have changed at all.
