Forget Katmandu

Share

Good Lord, hamburgers and hot dogs in Katmandu (“Crossroad of Cultures in Katmandu,” by Maureen Keilty, March 18)? I still have fond memories of the Katmandu I visited in 1956, when there were no roads in or out and you had to either fly or walk. There were no more than a dozen cars in the entire country and you had to eat at your hotel because there was nothing even resembling a Western-style restaurant. I’ve often thought I’d like to go back there some day, but I guess I’d better forget it.
