Last-Minute Tax Filers Can Go to 12 Post Offices

Expecting the annual crush of procrastinators who wait until the last minute to file their income tax returns, 12 post offices in Los Angeles County are to remain open until midnight today.

Although the usual tax deadline is April 15, taxpayers have an extra day this year because that date fell on Sunday. For last-minute help with returns, the Internal Revenue Service may be reached at (800) 424-1040.

The following post offices will accept returns until midnight:

In downtown Los Angeles, the Terminal Annex, 900 N. Alameda St.; in South-Central Los Angeles, the general mail facility, 7001 S. Central Ave.; near Los Angeles International Airport, the Worldway Postal Center, 5800 W. Century Blvd.; in Marina del Rey, the mail processing center, 13031 W. Jefferson Blvd.; and in the City of Industry, the mail processing center, 14730 Don Julian Road.

In Pasadena, the main post office, 600 Lincoln Ave.; in Santa Clarita, the post officeat 24355 Creekside Road, Valencia; in Burbank, the main post office, 2140 N. Hollywood Way; in Van Nuys, a mobile center at the main post office, 15701 Sherman Way; in Long Beach, the main post office at 300 Long Beach Blvd. and the mail processing facility at 2300 Redondo Ave.; and in Palmdale, the post office at 38560 N. 9th St. East.
