AST Research Inc., the Irvine personal computer maker, is expected to announce today an agreement with Mexico City-based SIGA Corporativo S.A. to distribute AST’s complete line of computers and enhancement products in Mexico.

The agreement comes two weeks after the Mexican government eased restrictions on foreign computer imports.

According to the agreement, SIGA will carry AST’s line of computers ranging from the entry-level Bravo-286 to the high performance Premium 486/33.

“This distribution agreement continues AST’s expansion into overseas markets, which account for approximately 35% of our current sales,” said Safi Qureshey, AST’s president and chief executive.

SIGA Corp., a subsidiary of Grupo SIGA, was established in 1989 to function solely as an importer and distributor of AST products. The parent manufactures and markets computers in Mexico.
