NATION : Bush Has Cold, Is Getting Better
President Bush, who braved rain and 35-m.p.h. winds to play golf in Bermuda during the weekend, is suffering from a cold, the White House said today.
Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater said Bush has had a cold for several days, even before he traveled to Bermuda Friday for a meeting with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
“He’s taking cold medicine,” Fitzwater said.
Fitzwater said the President’s voice is still “a little raspy” but he is getting better.
Bush leaves Thursday on a four-day trip to Florida with a side journey to Birmingham, Ala. He plans to meet with French President Francois Mitterrand on Key Largo, Fla., on Thursday and do a lot of fishing during the weekend.
