USC, Arizona State Players Suspended One Game After Bench-Clearing Brawl

Ten players--five from each team--and both head coaches of the USC and Arizona State baseball teams have been suspended for one game after a bench-clearing brawl in their game Saturday, the Pacific 10 Conference announced.

Four USC players--Damon Buford, John Jackson, Dusty Raring and Sam Vranjes--and four Arizona State players--Wayne Ball, Dave Robson, Fernando Vina and Kip Yaughn--were ejected from the game for fighting, and Monday were dealt one-game suspensions along with pitchers Jeff Cirillo of USC and Gary Tetterson of ASU.

The pitchers received the suspensions for intentionally throwing at batters. They were also ejected from Saturday’s game. Neither coach, USC’s Mike Gillespie or ASU’s Jim Brock, was ejected, but each has been suspended for one game, under NCAA rules.
