House Fire Causes : $110,000 Damage but 4 Pets Are Rescued

Fire swept through a Simi Valley house Tuesday, causing $110,000 damage and killing one of several pets found inside, authorities said.

The fire erupted about 1 p.m. at the house in the 1600 block of Park Street, said Sam Meier, spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department.

Firefighters were able to rescue three dogs and a cat from the blaze but were unable to save one dog, Meier said.

It took 25 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Meier said.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $80,000 and loss of contents at $30,000, she said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
