A 34-year-old Torrance man died Tuesday after his car rammed into a tractor-trailer on the Riverside Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Daniel M. Chang died at the scene shortly after the crash about 2 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just west of the Knott Avenue exit.

CHP Officer Angel Johnson said Chang was driving a red 1985 Datsun 300ZX “at a high rate of speed” and had decided to change lanes when he rear ended the tractor-trailer.

Johnson said both the driver of the tractor-trailer and his passenger complained of minor back pain, but did not require hospitalization.
