So soon after the disastrously heavy shaking over the muds of Mexico City’s lake bottom and over the shores of San Francisco Bay, should anyone in his right mind be proposing high-rise buildings over the natural deposits of Ballona Creek and its lagoons? Within 5 miles of the Newport-Inglewood fault, the one that gave us the Long Beach earthquake of 1933? Even then, stronger shaking was observed over the L.A. River deposits in Compton than in Long Beach.
The Lincoln Boulevard zoning challenges are not only those of multiple jurisdictions and congestion. They may also include earthquake dangers much higher than for most of Los Angeles.
