Anaheim police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of robbing as many as 11 banks throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties during the last month, authorities said.

Brian Patrick Hagan, 29, residence unknown, was arrested by Anaheim officers at a motel in La Mirada shortly after a First Interstate Bank branch in Buena Park was robbed.

Information gathered during an investigation of an April 4 robbery at the Bank of Anaheim led police to Hagan, Lt. Marc Hedgpeth said. One of the features that helped distinguish Hagan was his face, which is heavily scarred with pockmarks, Hedgpeth said.

The Anaheim Police Department had been staking out an area in Santa Fe Springs and also the motel where he was arrested before Wednesday, Hedgpeth said.

Fred Reagan, spokesman for the FBI, said officials have not yet determined how much money was stolen in the robberies that began March 20 and included banks in Buena Park, La Habra, Anaheim, Artesia, La Mirada and Cerritos. In at least five of the cases, $1,000 to $1,500 was taken, Reagan said.
