COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cal Lutheran Does Damage in 4th in 8-0 Win

Cal Lutheran scored eight runs in the fourth inning to beat visiting Biola, 8-0, in an NAIA District 3 game Friday.

Peter Washington knocked in the first two runs with a double and Tim Lewis hit his sixth home run, a two-run shot. Dave Leonhardt added a three-run double as Cal Lutheran sent 12 batters to the plate against loser Tim Worrell (5-10).

Starter Mike Clark (5-1), pitching for the first time in four weeks after a bout with tendinitis in his pitching arm, allowed one hit in six innings and struck out six.

Cal Lutheran is 21-10, 10-6 in District 3; Biola is 11-26-1, 3-14.

The Master’s 6, Point Loma Nazarene 3--Freshman Mike Weinstein scattered eight hits in eight innings in an NAIA District 3 game at Point Loma Nazarene.

SOFTBALL

Moorpark 14, Pierce 1--Visiting Moorpark earned its 17th consecutive Western State Conference victory.

Robin Thomas (22-4) pitched the final four innings for the win.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UCLA d. Cal State Northridge, 15-11, 15-6, 15-7--Despite 13 kills from Neil Coffman and 12 from Coley Kyman, Northridge (13-11) fell in a nonconference match at home.

Oren Scher had a match-high 14 kills for UCLA (22-4).
