Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Turkey Is Target of Rally for Armenians

Mayor David N. Dinkins and Sen. Alfonse M. D’Amato (R-N.Y.) were among thousands of people who gathered in New York’s Times Square to demand that Turkey accept responsibility for the killing of 1.5 million Armenians between 1915 and 1923. Dinkins called for healing words and cited a Senate resolution proposing a “national day of remembrance.”
