East Germany will for the first time give money to help survivors of the World War II Holocaust in which the Nazis murdered 6 million Jews, the official ADN news agency reported today.
It said the new East German government had agreed to pay 6.2 million West German marks ($3.65 million) into a fund run by an Israeli foundation that helps ease psychological and physical torment of survivors.
An additional 100,000 West German marks ($59,000) will be given to a branch of the foundation being set up in East Germany.
