THE SIDELINES : Paula Ivan to Run in U.S. Meets

Paula Ivan of Romania, the women’s 1,500-meter champion in the 1988 Olympic Games, will run in three track meets in the United States this spring, promoter Al Franken said today.
Ivan, the world record-holder in the mile, will compete in the Jack-in-the-Box meet May 20 at UCLA, the Bruce Jenner Classic on May 26 at San Jose and the Prefontaine Classic on June 2 at Eugene, Ore.
Ivan was ranked No. 1 in the world in the 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters last year.
