Blockbuster Entertainment Corp.: The video rental firm reported record first-quarter net income of $13.5 million, up 82% from a year earlier. Revenue totaled $139 million, a gain of 81%. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., firm attributed the results to the “impressive operating performance” of its 592 company-owned stores.
