Air Inter announced today it will ban smoking on all its domestic flights after a two-month experiment found that 88% of passengers favored smoke-free flights.

The French airline banned smoking on a temporary basis on March 1. The latest announcement said the restriction will be extended indefinitely, in accordance with the results of a survey conducted since then.

Air Inter reported that a poll of 5,500 passengers found that 88% said smoke-free flights are a positive thing, with 96% of nonsmokers and 72% of smokers favoring such a ban.
