SEOUL —
A strike by 20,000 workers of Hyundai Heavy Industries demanding the release of jailed union leaders crippled South Korea’s largest shipyard today.
The Hyundai union members began their strike at 8 a.m. in Ulsan, 190 miles southeast of Seoul, to protest the arrests of union leaders for organizing previous labor demonstrations that were termed illegal by management.
