Soviet, East German Apologies
The Times printed a front-page article on the apology by East Germany for the Holocaust (April 13). Then on Page 9 you feature a “partial” text of this historic document, some excerpts that you deem sufficient for your readers’ information.
As a German-Jewish immigrant who felt deeply moved and greatly interested in this document, I take exception to your condensation of this important piece of contemporary history. Considering the ample space you give to innumerable other items in the news, your curtailment in this instant seems more than unwarranted.
