National Mercantile Names President

William T. Hughes has been named president and chief operating officer of National Mercantile Bancorp in Los Angeles and its Mercantile National Bank subsidiary.

Hughes most recently was a senior vice president with Security Pacific National Bank. He succeeds Terry T. Tomich, who resigned earlier this month.

National Mercantile is a business bank specializing increasingly in entertainment lending. A partnership affiliated with Creative Artists Agency, Hollywood’s most influential talent agency, owns nearly 10% of National Mercantile. A separate stake of nearly 10% is owned by Breslauer, Jacobson, Rutman & Sherman, one of the entertainment industry’s top business management firms.
