FILLMORE : It’s No Contest for Name of Park

Share

The Fillmore City Council has chosen an official name for a public park on Central Avenue.

After reviewing 36 proposed names, including Railroad Park and Freedom Park, the council gave resident Mike Steel $50 in U.S. Treasury Bonds and a certificate of recognition for having the chutzpah to name what everyone called it anyway--Central Park.

“Central Park has been the name I’ve heard used for at least 20 years,” Councilman Roger Campbell said.
