An assistant city manager announced his resignation this week, making him the second administrator this month to leave City Hall.

Gregory Hulsizer, who began working for San Clemente as a lifeguard in 1973, will start work in June for the city of Fontana as a deputy city manager.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Hulsizer said. “Fontana is one of the fastest-growing cities” in the Southland.

Hulsizer moved from the beaches to a full-time position in City Hall in 1982. He was promoted to assistant city manager in 1986.

Earlier this month, Senior Planner Patricia Willcocks resigned to pursue a career as a planning consultant in the private sector.

“She had a unique blend of talent,” said James Holloway, community development director. “She will be missed.”
