British Seize a Record 660 Pounds of Cocaine
British customs officials Wednesday seized a record cocaine haul of 660 pounds worth about $66 million from a ship docked in Liverpool, the Press Assn. news service reported.
Investigators searching the Sun Tempest uncovered 240 pounds of the drug Wednesday, it reported. They had recovered 418 pounds from the same ship Tuesday.
“We have now seized 660 pounds of cocaine from the ship. This makes it the biggest cocaine seizure in Britain,” a customs spokesman said.
The Sun Tempest arrived in Britain on Tuesday from Peru and Chile.
