Chargers to Open Season at Dallas

The Chargers will open the newly formatted 17-week NFL schedule Sept. 9 at Dallas and be idle Dec. 9 before finishing with three games against AFC West opponents, the team announced Thursday.

The Chargers, who have opened on the road 15 of the past 18 seasons and have a record of 8-7 in those games, return for their home opener Sept. 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, who haven’t played in San Diego since 1982.

ESPN will nationally televise the Chargers’ Nov. 25 game against the Seattle Seahawks beginning at 5 p.m.
