CHICAGO —
Veteran Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael is available through trade, the team told the 27 other NFL clubs.
His agent, Larry Bales, sought more than $800,000 a year for McMichael, a two-time Pro Bowl participant and the top-rated defensive player on the Bears last season.
Last summer, the team broke tradition and renegotiated the 32-year-old McMichael’s contract to a base of $500,000.
